Mai's Garden is awarded Wedding Wire's 2009 Bride’s Choice Awards™!

WeddingWire, the nation’s leading wedding technology company, just announced that Mai's Garden has won the 2009 Bride’s Choice Awards™!

In its inaugural year, the Bride’s Choice Awards recognizes and honors vendors from the WeddingWire Network that demonstrate excellent quality of service, responsiveness, professionalism, value of cost and flexibility. This year’s recipients represent the top three percent of WeddingWire’s vendor community, which includes over 100,000 wedding vendors from across the US. That means Mai's Garden is one of the very best wedding planning/floral design company.

Unlike other awards in which winners are selected by the company, the Bride’s Choice Awards are determined exclusively by recent newlyweds through surveys and reviews.

“We are excited to launch this annual award program to honor high-performing vendors based solely on the experiences of our WeddingWire community,” according to Timothy Chi, WeddingWire’s Chief Executive Officer. “This year’s recipients have set the bar high, exhibiting excellent service and expertise in the wedding industry.”

We
would like to thank our past clients for speaking on our behalf and helping us win the 2009 Bride’s Choice Award!

Cheers to Trude and Jimmy!

When my dear friends, Trude and Jimmy, shared that they would be tying the knot in April 2008, and wanted to enlist me for my floral design and wedding planning services, I was thrilled to be part of their wedding.

Having grown up in the U.S., the couple chose a Western theme. But, to celebrate their Asian heritage, they wanted to incorporate Asian influences. With that in mind, I suggested floral arrangements in deep burgundy and chartreuse accents. Stuart Rental provided the linens, completing the rich colors of the floral designs.

The Catholic ceremony took place at St. Brother Albert Church in San Jose, followed by an intimate reception for 150 guests at Ming's Restaurant in Palo Alto. I was blessed to work with some of the most talented vendors. Jonathan Nguyen, a much sought-after makeup artist in San Francisco, brought out Trude's natural features.

Perspecta Photography did an amazing job in capturing the wedding day, and defined the moments with their photojournalistic style. The Passion Band provided great music and entertainment.

Congratulations Trude and Jimmy!

Exhibiting at the Bridal Extravaganza

Mai's Garden exhibited at the January 20, 2008 Bridal Extravaganza at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, CA.

Here's a sample of a centerpiece featuring roses in Cool Water, Milva, and Vendela, accented with green hydrangea. To highlight the height of the arrangement, a cymbidium orchid was submerged in the glass vase. Four cylindrical vases surrounded the main attraction with illuminating candlelight.

At the show, we showcased some of our floral designs in spring colors, and introduced our selection of wedding favors.

Celebrating with Susan and Jason!

Susan Hoffman and I met through BNI (Business Networking International), a networking association for entrepreneurs. We met on a weekly basis every Wednesday morning to discuss how we might help one another grow our businesses. It so happened that she missed one of the weekly meetings as she went back East to visit her family. The following week, I walked in to the meeting to find a huge grin on Susan's face. When I asked her how her trip went, she flashed me her rock! Jason had proposed to her, and she was on cloud 9.

I was honored when Susan approached me and asked me to help plan her wedding day. When I asked her which date she had set for the wedding, she excitedly told be 7.7.07 - yep, lucky number 7!!

Since Susan and Jason wanted a beach, outdoor wedding, we scouted out the San Diego area. Her uncle was gracious enough to offer the couple his beau
tiful estate on top of the hill in Escondido, California, overlooking the beach for the ceremony and reception. I must say I was excited and nervous since I've only planned weddings in the Bay Area - this being my first destination wedding. With the initial guidance of fellow wedding consultant of the ACPWC, Joyce Biffar of Joyous Celebrations, I began planning, contacting, and interviewing vendors in the San Diego area.

After nine months of planning, the special day finally arrived. In keeping with the beach theme, Briarmist Cakes created a Tiffany Blue cake decorated with sea shells. The most memorable part was the ceremony, and the pouring of the sand - symbol
izing the union of these two beautiful people. Congratulations Susan and Jason!!!
